Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mahanakorn University of Technology, was born at a time when Thailand was lacking in veterinary personnel. There were only a few state-regulated faculties of veterinary medicine during the rapid expansion of livestock at that time. The faculty has been able to produce veterinary medicine graduates to support such needs since 1992 as the first private university to open for teaching veterinary medicine and has been certified by the Veterinary Council of Thailand.

Students in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine are required to learn about all types of animals throughout the 6-year program. We aim to develop veterinary doctors who can treat all kinds of animals. Students will learn and study about animal health examinations, animal disease diagnosis, drug use and treatment, animal disease prognosis, and guidelines for the prevention and control of disease. They will study from the basic level to case studies with the application of knowledge for treatment and prevention. Students are to have basic understanding of biology, chemistry, information technology, and zoology, as well as specialized knowledge in animal science. Students are also taught breeding and raising animals, performing treatment, surgery, and nursing, and finding ways to prevent germs from spreading to other animals. Or contact between animals and people. There are many student project research opportunities. The MUT veterinary program graduates are competent in public health, food hygiene, Veterinary epidemiology, food standards, and contamination of animal origin for consumer safety. We aim to produce veterinary doctors who would treat small to large animals for the benefit of humanity and also to increase productivity in animal farms to be efficient.
